Halloween Events in Ann Arbor

Summer ends, fall begins. Freezing winds, falling leaves, red and autumn colors welcome the fall season. Ann Arbor community offers a variety of Halloween events from mid September to beginning of November. Here are some events happening in Ann Arbor.


Ann Arbor District Library

Our friendly neighbor, the Ann Arbor District Library holds multiple Halloween events in October. Here are some events that AADL organizes for the Downtown Pittsfield branch:


Paper Pumpkin, Oct 15: 1:00-2:00P

Are you interested in art & craft events that kids can participate in? Ann Arbor District Library is holding a paper pumpkin making event. Visit AADL Pittsfield Branch and make paper pumpkins to decorate for fall!


Slime Time Spooky Edition, Oct 15: 3-4PM

Are you interested in making a Halloween version of slime? Downtown library will provide slime and mix-in to customize your own Halloween slime!


Macramé Ghosts, Oct 21: 6-7PM

This is a great opportunity for teens & adults to make an extra cute and spooky decoration for your home! Visit Pittsfield branch to create simple macramé craft for your decorations!


Trivia Time! with Katie & Abbie: Hocus Pocus, Oct 27: 6:30-7PM

Another great AADL event at this time is the AADL Trivia Time on the week before Halloween. The location is the Pittsfield branch.

Trick or Treat events!


Trick or Treat on the River—Oct 16, 11:30am-5:30pm

After 2 years of hiatus, trick or treat on the river returns! Although it’s still not officially announced, the events will tentatively be held at Gallup Park. As you paddle around Gallup Pond there will be costumed creatures handing out treats and candy. Make sure to bring a treat bag and costume!

Treat of Agriculture—Oct 18, 6-7:30 pm

Are you interested in experiencing a new type of trick or treat at Fresh & Rural place? This event is for you! Washtenaw County Farm Bureau is holding a Free Trick-or-Treat Style Event. Unlike traditional trick or treating, kids will receive Michigan agriculture products. There will be a free photo booth & fun Halloween games. Dixboro Trunk or Treat & Fall Festival, Oct 21 4:30-7PM

Dixboro United Methodist Church and the Dixboro Farmers Market are holding their 9th annual trunk or treat and fall festival. The Fall Festival starts at 4:30 with Trunk or Treat starting at 5:15pm. This is a great family gathering event where you can visit the farmers market and get some candies! Halloween Day Events!


There are multiple events occurring on halloween day whether it’s trick or treat, festival, or scavenger hunt at various locations at Ann Arbor. Check this out:


Fall festival, Oct 29, 10am-5pm.

Animal Haunts, Oct 29 4-6pm

Are you looking for outdoor events for kids? Leslie Science & Nature Center’s annual Halloween celebration Animal Haunts is back! Travel through the woods, meeting costumed characters, and learning clues to solve the Mystery of Black Pond. In addition, there will be harvest crafts, a hay jump, and the Critter House will be open to meet various creatures. Halloween Downtown Trick or Treat, Oct 30: 11am-3pm

The Main Street Treat Parade will return in 2022. Halloween Parade begins at 11:30AM and Costumed kids should gather at Main and William between 11 and 11:30a. There will be Trick or Treating in downtown from 11a-3p for costumed characters. While downtown, be sure to check out the library’s Halloween Costume Contest from noon-3p at the Downtown Branch.


Halloween Parade & Spooky Fun, Oct 30 11am-2pm

Join the Halloween Parade and Spooky Fun at Kerrytown Market & Shops. All invited to parade through Kerrytown in costume. The program begins with crafts at 11 AM and Parade begins at 1 PM.


Halloween Puppet Show, Oct 31, 10:30-11am

Join AADL storytellers for a Halloween-themed puppet show with stories, songs and rhymes.
