Dear International Neighbors Members,
As another beautiful Michigan Summer draws to a close, I hope you were able to relax, travel to exciting new places, or simply catch up on long overdue family time and friendships.
As I enter my final year as your International Neighbors President, I’m already reflecting on what has been a wild and wonderful journey. I have had the opportunity to meet so many more of you and truly understand the importance of having a strong circle of women around me. I’m particularly inspired by the women who are the backbone of International Neighbors: involved, curious, strong, community-building, empathetic, interested—and truly interesting. And while going from Reading Group Co-Leader to President has challenged me in ways I didn't expect, the experience has been incredibly fun, exciting, and gratifying.
I would like to take a moment to recognize our dedicated Board Members, including our newest members, Jen W. and Joanna C-S. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our Group Leaders, International Day Committee Members, and especially to our departing Board Members—Stephanie B., Nitya K., Shirley M., and Phyllis S.—for their commitment and contributions.
In terms of where we stand as an organization, we ended the most recent year with 637 IN Members from more than 88 countries around the world, successfully recruiting 130 new Members from 31 countries! We hosted 9 all-Member events and closed FY24-25 with a balanced budget and positive cash balance heading into the Fall.
Looking ahead, I ask for your continued support in a few key areas:
Membership Engagement: Stay in contact - register or update your Member profile at www.INAnnArbor.org and sign up for activity groups in the members-only section
New Member Recruitment: Help us share our mission to “extend our friendship and assistance to women from other countries.” Bring a friend and spread the word!
Consider Donating: Our costs for facilities, communications, and group events continue to rise. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation online or via check (3588 Plymouth Rd., #231, Ann Arbor MI 48105
I am looking forward to our upcoming International Days, starting with the Fall Open House on September 18th. This year’s lineup includes programs celebrating Taiwan, wedding traditions from around the world, and even the potato! Please see the attached flyer for dates and details.
We’re also excited to launch IN Day: Evening Edition on September 24 to complement our monthly daytime gatherings—offering additional opportunities for members to connect and participate, especially those with daytime commitments. More details coming soon.
Thank you again for your participation, your support, and your help in recruiting new members to International Neighbors. I’m looking forward to the year ahead!
Warmly,
Veronica Hannah
President, International Neighbors
