November Newsletter

Welcome to the November Issue of the IN Newsletter!

As most of you know, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season in the United States. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is the official start of the Christmas shopping season. This year, Thanksgiving is late, so many of us will be scrambling to get everything done on time. But for now, let’s just enjoy the lull before the storm and a stress-free Thanksgiving.

A new and exciting pop-up has been planned – a Happy Hour at Pretzel Bell! Read about it in Happy Hour. It’s on November 14, so you’ll want to hurry to put it on your schedule.

Moving back to Halloween, see how the Tuesday Morning Conversation Group celebrated.

Our October IN Day was a celebration of India. Many IN members from India participated in a wonderful narrated program of song and dance. They also generously provided many Indian dishes which made up most of the food for the potluck. To see photos, click here.

Our Thanksgiving IN Day will be at 1:00 pm on November 21, Zion Lutheran Church. It will be a potluck as usual, but turkey will be provided. The IN Day Committee will be holding a can drive on that day, with goods to be donated to our local food bank, Food Gatherers. To find out what to bring, check out guidelines in Food Drive.

In Thanksgiving Around the World, there are brief descriptions of how some other countries celebrate Thanksgiving. Then, to find out how difficult trying to have a traditional American-style Thanksgiving can be, read First Thanksgiving in Pakistan.

Finally, we have a few recipes for you – Cranberry Sauce and Pumpkin Pie.

Enjoy the newsletter and the Happy Hour Pop-Up. We’ll see you at IN Day!
